Nineteen passengers including two babies were killed instantly when a heavy articulated truck from one of the neighbouring countries collided with a mini bus at Togblekope on the outskirts of Lome last Tuesday.
The Togolese Minister for Security, Colonel Atcha Mohammed Titikpina, said the accident occurred when the articulated truck carrying cement collided with the mini bus and threw it over a bridge into a river, Ghana's Daily Graphic reported."We deplore the deaths and appeal to our drivers to exercise care and observe the traffic rules while on our roads," Titikpina said to journalists.
The report said Togo National Television showed footage of the 19 dead bodies which had been retrieved from the river under the bridge.
