The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has fined the Togo Football Association US$2,000 for crowd misconduct here Tuesday during the Togo-Tunisia match at the ongoing under-17 Africa Nations Cup (CAN) competition, FA officials said here Saturday.
CAF said the match officials in their report indicated that missiles and plastic water bottles were hauled at them during and after the game, by Togolese fans, who accused the centre referee, Gambia's Abdou Saar, and his assistant, Nigeria's Peter Edibe, of favouring the Tunisians, who won the match 3-0.On Wednesday, the Togolese government apologised to Tunisia, CAF and the world soccer governing body, FIFA, for the misconduct of the fans, the FA officials said.
