The Francophone International Organisation (OIF) says it will send a group of 16 observers for Sunday's parliamentary elections in Togo. The OIF said the observer mission, to be headed by former Haitian Prime Minister Gerard Latortue, would meet with all stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
"The mission will work on the basis of the principles and commitments of the Bamako declaration and submit a detailed report to the Francophone Secretary-General," the OIFsaid while reaffirming its support for the electoral process."In September, the OIF brought together high-level francophone experts to work out ways of settling electoral disputes in France's former colonies," the statement said.
About three million Togolese voters will go to the polls Sunday to elect 81 new members of parliament in elections.
