Under a new rotational principle, Togo's independence anniversary on 27 April this year, will be celebrated in the northern city of Dapaong, about 600-km north of Lome, official sources said here Wednesday.
The ceremony would feature civilian and military parades, and the final match of the independence soccer Cup competition.During late President Gnassingbé Eyadéma's 27 years in power, Togo's independence anniversary celebration was replaced by the 13 January, the date he took power in 1967.
Eyadema died in February 2005 and has been succeeded by his son Faure Gnassingbé.
